Once the skin is healed, the new skin that replaces it will no longer be prone to stretch marks.

Prevention – In addition to curing stretch marks, there are creams that can also prevent marks from developing again. If you never want to have to deal with stretch marks then there is also a way to prevent its occurrence. Using a stretch mark prevention cream will stimulate the skin to become more elastic and it will also produce new skin cells.

Myths About How to Eradicate Stretch Marks

Many people live with stretch marks that they hate every day. Even with as much information as there is available about stretch mark removal and prevention, some people still believe the myths that they have heard..

Only women get them.

Fact: While it is a fact that 90% of pregnant women develop stretch marks, other people also develop them. Men can also get stretch marks and so can children. Men who weight lift and build muscle quickly are prone to develop them. Adolescents who experience quick growth spurts often see them as well.

Getting a tan can get rid of the marks.

Because of silvery color, most people have the misconception that they can cover up stretch marks with a tan. This however, will only serve to worsen the whitish appearance of stretch marks as the surrounding healthy skin darkens in color. This is because stretch marks are scars and if you’ve ever tried to tan a scar, you would know that they are particularly resistant to color changes.

Carrying small or dieting makes a difference.

Absolutely not, says Cambio. “The body is going to do what it wants to do,” she says, advocating eating healthy and gaining the amount of weight advised by your doctor. Dieting is a dangerous — and ineffective — method to try to prevent stretch marks.

Stretch marks are expensive to treat.-

Yes, some treatments such as plastic surgery can be quite costly, but there are other choices you can make to treat your stretch marks. Many lotions or creams can reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Chemical peels are also a lower cost option.

Plastic surgery leaves no scars-

Reality: All plastic surgeries heal with scars. Though, the plastic surgeons are trained to make tissue incisions in strategic directions and positions to minimize their visibility. The cosmetic surgeries performed with endoscopes have minimum scars. Endoscopic cosmetic surgeries include endoscopic breast augmentation. Endoscopic tummy tucks and Endoscopic forehead lifts.

Stretch mark product is the answer to eliminate stretch marks-

Generally, people have lost hope on finding an effective solution for stretch marks because the market is obviously saturated with products that just don’t work. These products put a bad name on reputable brands.

Lotions and creams prevent stretch marks- This is another one people ask me because I just had a baby, but it also happens to people who have gained a lot of weight. There is NO cream that can prevent stretch marks!!! NONE!!! This is a fact! If you wanna know if you’re gonna get stretch marks, you have to look at family memeber cuz it’s genetic!! It all depends on how elastic your skin is and it’s ability to go back to it’s original state. No cream can help do that. None waste your money…unless your goal is just to have soft skin, or prevent itchiness that comes with stretch marks.

Make-up can cover up stretch marks.-

To at least eliminate the appearance of stretch marks, some people have resorted to applying the area with make-up. These products do not eliminate stretch marks but just mask them.

Question by Heids: My cesarean has left my stomach looking extremly out of shape..?
Can anyone relate.. I had a cesarean 6 months ago and really disgusted by the look of the scar and i have been left with a huge fold of skin hanging over the scar ! I am only 25 years old and before pregnancy i was an attractive size 8-10 and my tummy was firm and toned. It feels as if the scar is stuck to my pelvis bone and for my tummy to be flat again i would have to be so so super skinny.. Can any one relate to this fold of skin and how do i get rid of it ?? Im working out and not seeing much results. Also any hints on stretch marks ? From jelly belly

Hi! I have had the same problem and i was only 20 when i had my baby. Sucks to lose your flat toned stomach but im afraid that aside from extreme dieting and exercising its unlikely that you will reduce the overhang bit. It does get a bit better with time (4 years on mine wasnt so bad before i fell pregnant with my 2nd) and the only tip i can give you for that and your stretch marks, is to use bio oil, or something high in vitamin E, and a body brush. If you keep the circulation up your skin is more likely to hold its elasticity and return to somewhat normal. Good luck!!

The Facts About Your Stretch Mark Solution

4947720477 e2d25cdcde m The Facts About Your Stretch Mark Solution

Looking for a good stretch mark solution can be both a very challenging and frustrating experience. Since people’s skins are unique, not all methods have the same level of effectiveness. Discover the facts about different solutions and see what solution will work best for you.

Fact #1: Stretch mark solution advice will depend on who you’re asking.

Many people can offer you lots of suggestions for a good stretch mark solution. Your dermatologist may suggest a dermabrasion session while your surgeon may say that surgery is the best solution. The truth is, both solutions have their pros and cons.

Dermabrasion is honestly less effective than surgery but it is also less invasive. In a sense, it is simply a more drastic form of skin exfoliation. Rapidly spinning fine wires move over your skin and peel off dead skin cells so new ones can develop. This is hardly a good stretch mark solution because stretch marks are really inner skin or dermis scars. Dermabrasion also opens you up to the risk of further skin damage and can even make stretch marks worse.

Surgery is actually a more effective stretch mark solution but it is also riskier, more invasive, more expensive and may not work for all parts of the body. At present, abdominal stretch marks are the only ones that can be solved by a tummy tuck. This stretch mark solution however can give you weeks of pain and discomfort and may even lead to infections and a larger, more visible external skin scar.

Fact #2: The least invasive stretch mark solution is to leave the marks as they are.

Others suggest that you simply refrain from doing anything or applying anything on the scars since time may eventually result in naturally faded scars. This wait and see stretch mark solution however would mean that you have to spend the best years of your life not wearing a bikini, tank tops and mini shorts. Time is also not a guarantee that stretch marks will disappear because you can increase in weight through time, which can make stretch marks worse.

You can also simply wear one piece suits to the beach. That would however, most likely remove part of the fun of being at the beach. In the beach, you’d want to naturally show off a bit or just be yourself without feeling conscious about other people staring at you.

Fact #3: Practical and natural solutions do not always eliminate stretch marks permanently but they are the safest and most active way to get rid of stretch marks.

Instead of blowing your money over risky medical procedures that are not even guaranteed stretch mark solutions, you can try the natural way. One natural stretch mark solution is to watch your weight. This may sometimes be difficult though since you may not always be able to perfectly limit body expansion especially if you are pregnant. You can always try your best though to maintain a regular diet and keep your self hydrated.

One other natural stretch mark solution is to exercise. Aerobic exercises improve blood circulation and help in the proper distribution of oxygen and nutrients to the different cells in the body. This may help maintain your skin’s elasticity and general health. Other forms of exercise however, such as muscle building exercises, may result in more stretch marks due to muscle expansion.

For optimum results, take a natural supplement to supply your body with more nutrients that can promote skin health.

Discovering the World of Stretch Mark Surgery

Some women want to get rid of stretch marks quickly. This is why a lot of women today resort to stretch mark surgery. There are a few surgical treatment options to choose from and even if you try to learn more about the different methods, it is still best to be under the care of a surgeon or a dermatologist so he or she can determine which treatment will suit you.

Tummy Tuck

Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is a treatment option for women who have had multiple pregnancies. Some people’s stretch marks are more severe than others, which is why they have to consider undergoing this type of surgery. A tummy tuck procedure carries risks like any other surgery. Because this is a major operation, some physicians will administer full anesthesia before making an incision on your abdomen in order to remove the abdominal skin covered with stretch marks.

This procedure will leave the patient with a large scar afterwards but if it is done expertly, the scar will be less noticeable than the stretch marks that were removed. The tummy tuck was actually not meant to remove stretch marks but was intended to contour and tighten the stomach wall by removing excess fat and skin. However, once the extra skin and fat were taken away, physicians realized that there was an added bonus because stretch marks were eliminated as well. Although effective, abdominoplasty is still the most expensive method for removing stretch marks and the average person can hardly afford this treatment.

Laser Surgery

Laser surgery is considered to be a non-invasive stretch mark surgery procedure but some doctors still regard it to be a surgical method because the treatment involves the penetration of the skin with a beam of light. Although the cost for this treatment is less expensive in comparison to tummy tuck, the money spent for this procedure will still depend on a number of factors. Below is a list of factors that can affect the cost of your lazer therapy.

- Condition of the stretch marks – Location of stretch marks on the body – Region or country where patient undergoes treatment

Consult your surgeon to learn more about the potential costs, effectiveness of the treatment, and results. The individual can also ask the doctor which treatment will work best on her because there are a variety of lazer therapies.

Lasers usually work by focusing a beam of light on the affected area. The lazer disrupts the scar tissue particles until they disintegrate. Once the scar tissues are gone, the redness of the scars is diminished and the look of the skin is improved. Lazer surgery is usually effective only on scars that are newly formed because the beam can only detect scars that are red or brown.

Laser only detects fresh stretch marks that are pinkish and purplish. Therefore, typical lazer surgery would not be a good option for stretch marks that have aged. If the lazer beam is also not carefully controlled, this might result to burning or scarring of the skin. However, people still prefer lazer surgery over other surgical procedures for the important reason that there is only minimal pain involved during or after the procedure.

A Tummy Tuck Can Help Acheive A Smoother Flatter Stomach

2090668910 1617792d0d m A Tummy Tuck Can Help Acheive A Smoother Flatter Stomach

You may be a candidate for a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) if you have loose or sagging abdominal wall skin that is frequently associated with abnormal relaxation of the anterior abdominal wall muscles (often secondary to multiple pregnancies or prior surgery). You may also desire a tummy tuck if you are unable to tighten your abdominal wall skin with exercise.

An abdominoplasty is intended to give the patient a smoother, flatter abdomen.

Abdominoplasty is usually performed under general anesthesia either within the hospital or in an outpatient setting. (Mini-abdominoplasties can be performed under sedation and local anesthesia.)

Mini-abdominoplasty tightens the lower abdominal wall skin only (shortest scar).
Standard abdominoplasty tightens all of the abdominal wall skin (standard scar).

Extended abdominoplasty tightens the abdomen and the flanks or sides (longest scar extending around the flanks onto lower back.)

Abdominoplasty is one of the more uncomfortable plastic surgery procedures. One to three days of hospitalization or skilled nursing care is usually indicated. Light activity is comfortable in 10-20 days. Sports will not be comfortable for about 6 weeks.

Additional procedures that may enhance the result of a tummy tuck are Liposuction, Breast Procedures, or a Thigh Lift.

Occasionally, if the abdominoplasty is being performed for medical reasons, the procedure may be partially covered by insurance. Usually, the patient is responsible for payment.

The specific risks and the suitability of abdominoplasty for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are unusual.

Mini-Abdominoplasty, also known as a Mini-Tummy Tuck, is reserved for those who have only a limited amount of loose skin or stretch marks in the lower abdomen, or above the public bone. Also, Mini Tummy Tuck does not usually involve the tightening of abdominal muscles. Therefore, it is sometimes combined with Liposuction for patients with excessive fat, but limited looseness of the abdomen.

In most cases, women considering abdominoplasty should not be considering additional pregnancies, or they may have the need for a second procedure to re-tighten the belly. In many cases, a tummy tuck does help rid of stretch marks because it removes most of the “stretched out” skin below the navel.

During abdominoplasty, the plastic surgeon makes an incision that extends from hip to hip along the lower pubic area. A skilled plastic surgeon makes this incision so that the resulting scar is hidden under a bathing suit or by undergarments. The plastic surgeon then lifts the loose skin off of the abdominal wall, and tightens and repairs the loosened “rectus” muscles – the muscles that normally give the abdomen its strength – achieving the effect that an old-fashioned girdle would.

The umbilicus or “belly button” is disconnected from the abdomen, and reattached after the loose skin is removed. A skilled plastic surgeon not only tightens the abdominal wall, but also pulls up and tightens the thighs and the buttocks. Drains will be inserted into each side of your abdomen to remove excess fluid as it accumulates following surgery.

Try Mederma. When I used the Mederma gel on a huge scar on my leg, I wasn’t committed enough to use it all the time. Even though I didn’t apply it religiously, it greatly reduced the appearance of my scar. It’s supposed to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars from accidents, burns, and acne.

The ingredient in Mederma that does the most for scars is actually onion. People swear that if they rub freshly cut onions on their scars, it gets rid of them.

The Search for the Best Anti Stretch Mark Cream

There are many creams and lotions that will claim to be able to work well on stretch marks. You should know what to look for in an anti stretch mark cream so you don’t get duped by fake or ineffective products.

Combination of Ingredients

Anti stretch mark creams include many ingredients. You should however, check for ingredients that have been carefully combined for a more concentrated effect. Each individual ingredient should have an individual impact on stretch marks. Since stretch marks are essentially scars that result from dermal tearing, you should look for ingredients that can help repair the skin and improve collagen and elastin strength.

Preventive Properties

A stretch mark scar is difficult to remove completely. A good anti stretch mark cream should hold prevention as the key to stopping the appearance of stretch marks altogether. An anti stretch mark cream that can prevent stretch marks does so by first of all nourishing the skin. A good anti stretch mark cream however can still be used even by those who have severe stretch marks. It is reasonable to imagine though that in severe cases, a good product can only effectively diminish the appearance of stretch marks.

Something Safe

Most stretch mark problems arise during pregnancy because of the quick expansion of the abdomen. It is therefore important to look for an anti stretch mark cream that is safe enough to use even on pregnant women. Although pregnant women are still advised to go by the advice of their doctors, a 100% natural product can be a safe choice. Natural ingredients reduce the chances of side effects regardless of whether an individual is pregnant or not. Just be sure to check with your doctor first.

Safe Against Allergies

Natural stretch mark cream products are also good for individuals with sensitive skin. The natural ingredients are already naturally occurring in the body or the environment so there is a small chance that they could promote allergies. To be on the safe side, try an anti stretch mark cream product on a patch of skin first and observe after 24 hours if any allergy signs appear.

Expectation Setting

A good anti stretch mark cream should also be clear about what you can expect. Makes sure that product instructions will tell you exactly how long you should wait for results and how often or how much a product should be used.

A typical cream is applied twice a day for a couple of weeks. To give your cream the best chances of providing results, you should use the cream after taking a shower when the skin is clean and the pores are open. The application should also be allowed to seep in before you put on your clothes.

Honest Claims

A good product will not be afraid to claim that it cannot work miracles for some people. The effectiveness of a product will depend on such factors as your skin type, genetic predisposition and severity of stretch marks.
