Question by Alisha D: How long does it take for stretch marks to disappear?
I had my first child in august, and i’ve lost most of the weight, just a few extra vanity pounds are still there, but i have stretch marks on my thighs and butt, and a little on my stomach too. I used Palmer’s brand lotions for stretchmarks, and drank a lot of water while pregnant, but after i had the baby money was a bit tight and so i had to stop buying the lotion. i am able to buy the lotion again, but was wondering if they will go away without using anything, and how long that would take? or whats the best things to get rid of them? (affordable please, no 40$ per bottle)
I would like to feel comfortable in a bathing suit next summer, but the stretch marks looks horrible icon sad How long does it take for stretch marks to disappear?
So what has/hasnt worked for everyone, and how long did it take to get rid of them?
Thanks!

Question by Juicy Luver: I HATE MY STRETCH MARKS!!!! PLEASE HELP!?!?!?
I seriously can’t stand them! I’m only 14 and I have 10-15 of them on both sides of my hips!!! They are bright purple and go around onto my back and slightly onto my stomach. I’m not fat so I really have no idea why I have them! I go to the pool with my friends all the time and I am going on vacation to a beach for two weeks this summer and I don’t want to b seen with them! I dont want to wear a 1 piece… I’m wearing a bikini! But i need to know how to get rid of them! They are so embarasing and none of my friends have them! I already use Bio Oil, Palmers Cocoa Butter lotion, and Avon stretch mark smoother… Nothing is really helping at all! What do you use/do to get rid of them or at least drastically fade them?

Thanks so much!! I’m desperate!!!!!

Question by Proud Mamma of baby grl 5/5/09: Do you always get stretch marks while pregnant?
Im six months pregnant and im just now starting to get stretch marks. They aren’t too deep or two big but they are only in the front of stomach by my belly button. They aren’t on my sides at all and a few above my butt. So what I am asking is do you think they will be easy to get rid of, do you think I am going to get a lot more? Is there any thing that will stop them?( I have been using coca butter for about 2 months now just trying to make sure) And how hard is it to get rid of them?

Old, faded, silvery stretch marks on my hips?

Question by Taylor: Old, faded, silvery stretch marks on my hips?
Well, I’m 19 years old and sometime before freshman year of high school I remember having stretch marks on my hips. I’m a thin girl. I’ve read up on these marks for countless hours through the years, and I understand you can’t get rid of them, and I know of the options to help them fade.

The question I have TODAY, is that how normal ARE they? The only reason I’m so upset about them, is because I have not met one person with them unless they are on their stomach from pregnancy. No one in my family has them, even from pregnancy, and not to mention I have an aunt who has gained a TON of weight to the point where she could die from obesity (horrible thing to say but it’s true) and no stretch marks. Not one. I’m a super social person, I’ve met a lot of people, changed in a lot of dressing rooms, and I do plenty of swimming in the summer. So, why am I the only one I’ve ever known with them? I don’t understand when people say it’s so common… I hate my body for this reason! All my friends point them out! I can’t wear swimsuits anymore because whoever I’m with is always going to say something.

You can point out celebrities with stretch marks etc, but I have never seen a celeb with stretchmarks on their hips besides for this one picture of Halle Berry, and even then I’m sure it’s from pregnancy. YES I know there is PHOTOSHOP but they don’t photoshop at premiers and/or candid shots! Those are REAL pictures, and yet I am not seeing these marks? It makes me so depressed!

I’d really appreciate an esteem boost.

It’s okay and it is normal. I have a few and I know other people that have them too. Sometimes stretch marks just come from a growth spurt when the skin had had to stretch quickly. Don’t worry about what other people think, they don’t matter.
They certainly are normal, maybe the reason you haven’t seen people with them is because they feel the same as you do and they cover them up. But you shouldn’t feel ashamed, not at all.
Now it’s really difficult to get rid of them but if you use something like Bio Oil, after a few months, the stretch marks will actually fade. They’ll never fully go away but they will be much less noticeable.

you cant get rid of strecth marks short of surgery.all you can do is reduce the appearance of them.they will generally fade over time.you can use topical creams to help speed up the process a little bit.

Im nearly 16 n i have like 2 above my hips at the side of my stomach.. Why do you get them.. i also have them on my boobs
Why..??
And how can i get rid of them ?

You get them because you’re growing faster than your skin.

You can’t get rid of them although there are creams that make them less noticeable. Usually they fade within a couple of years and aren’t too noticeable anyways.

Stretch marks fade over time and with weight loss. You could also try rubbing some vitamin E cream on them to help them fade faster or disappear.
Good luck with your weight loss!
