While stretch marks affect nearly all the women during their pregnancy, they are also common among many men and non-pregnant women including athletes, body builders, teenagers, and people experiencing either fast growth or gaining weight at a faster rate. In short, stretch marks are most common in those parts of the body, which tend to store more fat or need to expand more as a result of physical activity or changes within the body.

In case of a pregnant woman, the stretch marks start appearing on her abdomen from about 6 month of pregnancy as a result of her developing baby. Some women also experience scars and stretch marks on other parts of bodies as well including their hips, arms, thighs, and breasts.

Are you wondering if it is possible to prevent stretch marks? Remember, genetics play a very important role in deciding whether or not you will develop stretch marks during your pregnancy. This means if your mother got stretch marks during her pregnancy, you are most likely to have them too. Additionally, there are many other factors that determine your chances of having stretch marks. For example, fair-skinned women are more likely to develop stretch marks as compared to women with darker complexion. Not only this, people with less-nourished skin or dry skin tend to develop more stretch marks compared to people with well-nourished skin. It is also seen that amount of weight gained during pregnancy also influences your chances of developing stretch marks.

Don’t feel discouraged if you are prone to develop stretch marks. You can still control their appearance by taking some very simple and effective measures to safeguard your body and skin.

If you want to minimize your chances of developing stretch marks, you must moisturize your body regularly. There are various stretch marks creams that prevent stretch marks, and if you apply them regularly on your body, the results are guaranteed. These stretch mark prevention creams are clinically tested to control and reduce the damage caused by stretch marks. These stretch mark prevention creams and lotions provide you with the necessary skin nutrition and don’t let your skin dry. As a result, you feel less itchy and dry, and develop less stretch marks. food

If you are looking for an effective stretch mark prevention cream, go for one that contains natural ingredients, such as cocoa butter, almond oil, shea butter, and wheatgerm oil. If you keep your body properly moisturized during pregnancy, it helps to improve the elasticity of the skin. In addition to using an effective stretch mark prevention cream, you should ensure that you have a nutritious diet, which includes lots of green leafy vegetables. Other than providing you with essential vitamins and minerals, they contribute to the strength and health of your skin. Try to include foods, which are high in vitamins C and E, zinc and silica, as they enable your skin to stretch better, and bounce back instantly after the delivery.

In the end, drink a lot of water and take essential vitamins to ensure beautiful skin and a healthy baby.

Q&A: curios about my body. :/?

Question by Emily: curios about my body. :/?
I’m a 16 year old female curious about my body. I’m not going to lie, I’m almost overweight. 5’3 and 150 pounds. I have two topics to ask about regarding by body.

I’ve listed my weight because of my first question here which is regarding stretch marks. When I was 10 I got stretch marks on my inner thighs. I still have them and they’re really gross to look at. Sometimes they’re completely white and unnoticeable but other days they’re really dark and extremely noticeable. I have them on my hips, the sides of my boobs, my inner thighs and on my upper arm near the underarm. Does my weight (being a tad chunky) have to do with me gaining stretch marks on my hips/arms/boobs? How do I get rid of them?

Another question is about my body hair…I’m extremely white. Porcelain doll type girl here..I have really dark hair. Close to black. I have hair on my butt, my stomach, my back, my chest and my butthole. How do I get rid of the hair? I’ve been shaving it and still do to this current day but I’ve realized it’s been getting thicker and darker. I want to tell my mom but I’m too embarassed. And it is embarassing because half my back is shaved because I can’t reach the middle to the top half of my back.
Please help me. I’m really getting sick of looking at myself. :/
x

P.S please ignore any spelling or grammar errors please. I’m on my cellphone.

Well I know a little bit about your first question but i dont know about the second one. as for the first question based on experience yes i think the strech marks are only there because you have excess weight on you. I dont know why but when i was 12-16 i was a chubby girl (not THAT big but i was chubby) (146-152 punds)and i had red strech marks on my inner thighs and my sides. Im currently 17 now and i duno after i started the birth control pill, i lost alot of weight and i dont have ANY strech marks AT ALL anymore! I used to cry because sometimes my strech marks were white but sometimes they were like red and dark and it was gross but now i dont have any at all. maybe if you loose weight yes they will go away definately…

im not sure about the body hair sorry…

any suggestions for reducing stretchmarks and extra stretched skin without surgery?

Question by autumnrachellstarr: any suggestions for reducing stretchmarks and extra stretched skin without surgery?
i’m pregnant with my second child and naturally, i have a small frame. With my first pregnancy, I only got a few stretch marks on my hips and I used the Palmer’s cocoa butter specifically for pregnancy. It worked VERY well and I am using it for this pregnancy as well. With my first, I gained 50lbs. This time, I have already gained 50lbs and I have 4 weeks left…no I’m not eating everything I see and I actually have a pretty good and healthy diet, but my husband was 11lbs and so I’m very confident my baby is pretty big. My old stretch marks are white, but I have gotten a new strech mark below my belly button. Are there any other suggestions for reducing the visibility of stretch marks other than Palmer’s and Mederma(I will try that and I’ve heard a lot about it but it’s expensive–might be my only outlet unless you have a better idea)? Also, because I’m getting larger than the first time, and I’m pretty sure I’ll have a lot of extra loose skin. We all wonder how to get rid of it, has anyone found a pretty good method to reducing that extra skin? I had loose skin with my first pregnancy, but me and my son’s father went through a custody battle and it really stressed me out and I smoked a lot of cigarettes and did not have an appetite and I actually got rid of ALL my extra skin and more….I DON’T want to have to do that either haha. I’m very happily married and our little family so I’d like realistic and healthy methods if there are any without surgery please. I have a very big stomach piece tattoo (luckily it hasn’t stretched or gotten ruined–yet. it looks very good right now)
i know i am going to get stretch marks, the question is how to reduce the appearance of them. I am currently using Palmer’s cocoa butter which is great, and I will use mederma after the pregnancy if i cannot find any other cheaper methods…

Q&A: Post Pregnancy Weight?

Question by Kayla Ann <3: Post Pregnancy Weight?
I’m 19 years old & 39 weeks pregnant. Originally I weight about 113 pounds & now I’m up to 155. Everyone says that I’m all belly and that I haven’t gotten bigger in any other area than my stomach & breasts. I tried on jeans today, just to see how far I could get them up and I couldn’t get them past my hips. I know that your hips spread during pregnancy & child birth, but do they go back to their normal size eventually? I feel so selfish asking these kinds of questions, although I’m sure a lot of girls have the same ones. Also, any tips on stretch marks & how to get rid of them, or atleast make them less noticeable?

for stretch marks: DO NOT SCRATCH. apply lotion every night, twice a day if you can, on your belly. that’s what I did and I don’t have any.

Question by HeatherK: How oh how can I tighten up my tummy?
Im 24 years old. I have 3 kids (all delivered c-section), and YES Im married for 6 years in Oct. so DO NOT JUDGE ME! Im 210 pounds and only 5’3! I have a thyroid disease that keeps my metabolism low- non-functioning, which also makes it nearly impossible to lose weight!! My stomach has minimal stretch marks but a lot of stretched skin that wont get back into place! My stomach sags down past my hips! I hate it! What are some things I can do to try and get rid of that pouch? Tummy tuck’s on average cost around $ 5000 and liposuction costs around $ 2500! YIKES! Plus, I was reading that some docs. wont even do a body sculpting procedure unless the patient is near their ideal body weight… which Im still a good 80 pounds away from!

HELP! Serious advice only please!
How do I rid myself of the dreaded pouch?
How do I lose weight efficiently so that the rest of my body wont droop by losing too much too fast?

Im a meat and potatoes kind of girl so I WILL NOT try any diets where Im feeling deprived or starving all the time! But I do love to work out! The stair stepper is my FAVE! icon smile How oh how can I tighten up my tummy? THANKS!

Question by pretty_kitty1698: Lines on my stomach?
I have recently lost some weight, 13 pounds, last summer. Now I have this irritating line around the space between my waist and hips. It is not a stretch mark. It is very hard to wear tight clothing and bikinis because this line makes the differnce between my pubic bone and stomach very great. How do I get rid of it!?

Should i get a tummy tuck..?

Question by Lauren Maye: Should i get a tummy tuck..?
im 21 I had a baby 7 months ago….i was told by my midwife when i was 37 weeks that my stomach was as big as it could get. I now have horrible stretch marks everywhere!=’( there all over my stomach, my hips, lower back and thighs, I hate them sooo much. Im now considering to have a tummy tuck to get rid of the stretch marks as ive read this is the best method to get rid of them (i know this will only sort out the ones on my stomach), ive tried loads of creams and although i know over time that they will fade, my skin wont look the same due to how deep there are. Do you think tummy tuck is my best solution? any suggestion on how to get rid of the other stretch marks? any advice is really appreciated

my wife had severe stretch marks. if your tummy is pouchy, and you aren,t fat, a tummy tuck may be the only solution. they are expensive, and the recovery time is painful. you have a baby. who will handle the baby while you cannot? stretch marks usually fade after about a year, but never completely go away.
