Everybody wants to be thinner. But if you body mass varies too much and too quick, your skin will suffer the consequences, namely some large scars that will cover your body.
Stretch marks are those ugly scars on your skin that appear during pregnancy, or puberty. They look like bands, stripes, or lines on your skin, and can be highly embarrassing especially if you want to wear a bathing suit or shorts.
Stretch marks are also produced by important, quick weight gain because your organism does not have time to adjust itself to the added weight. Bodybuilders also suffer from stretch marks because of rapid muscle growth.
So what exactly are stretch marks? It is important to understand that Stretch marks are tiny tears that appear just under the tissue that helps to support the skin and it is what helps it stretch. These tears in your skin are from the inside and work their way to the surface and are basically scars. Most of the time, they are purplish red lines that show in overstretched skin.
For pregnant women, stretch marks are more noticeable when they first come out.
Some home solutions like rubbing your tummy with olive oil may help eliminate the possibilities of getting stretch marks.
There are many different skin care treatments for stretch marks, from over the counter creams to lazer surgery.
A good skin care cream will contain collagen; a biological substance that is found in your skin that confers it elasticity. As your body grows, collagen is depleted and you may get stretch marks. When collagen is added to these creams, your skin absorbs the collagen and tightens. This can reduce the risk of developing stretch marks. In this respect, the claims that collagen enhances stretch marks holds true.
Another alternative that is used to get rid stretch marks is lazer treatment. The lazer is employed to destroy all tissue and skin that is afflicted by stretch marks. It is however important to note that this method is highly expensive and often more than one session is required in order for it to be effective. Lazer stretch mark removal works best in the first stages when the stretch marks are darkest because the lazer responds better than it does in the latter phases when the scars are lighter.
Stretch marks can make anyone experience self-conscience. For some, they are a normal part of life and for others they are a continual source of anxiety. Those people who want to get rid of the unsightly blemishes will do just about anything to clear up their skin.
After pregnancy, extreme weight loss or gain it’s unfortunate that our skin just doesn’t bounce back. It may instead become decorated by a form scarring scientifically known as striae or more commonly stretch marks. Stretch marks often start as a reddish or purplish color and then become glossier, emerging streaked in silver or white. Stretch marks occur in the middle layer of the skin which allows it to keep its shape, known as the dermis. When the dermis is constantly stressed and stretched it can be broken down leaving behing stretch marks.
Stretch marks are not gender specific and can affect both men and women.Stretch marks can appear in areas such as the abdominal area, thighs, hips, breasts, upper arms, or lower back.
Other factors that influence who gets stretch marks include- Heredity factors mean some people are more susceptible than others. Skin Type also plays a role as some skin is dryer thus has less elasticity. Stretch marks are often caused by a rapid weight gain or loss often during adolescence. Between 75% to 90% of women will develop stretch marks during pregnancy making it a major factor. The sustained hormonal levels during this time, mean pregnancy stretch marks usually appear during the sixth or seventh month.

Hi! I have had the same problem and i was only 20 when i had my baby. Sucks to lose your flat toned stomach but im afraid that aside from extreme dieting and exercising its unlikely that you will reduce the overhang bit. It does get a bit better with time (4 years on mine wasnt so bad before i fell pregnant with my 2nd) and the only tip i can give you for that and your stretch marks, is to use bio oil, or something high in vitamin E, and a body brush. If you keep the circulation up your skin is more likely to hold its elasticity and return to somewhat normal. Good luck!!
What do you think? Answer below!

It is caused mainly when a person gains weight and the skin grows rapidly causing stretch marks. Even though our skin happens to be very elastic overstretching may lead to stretch marks. It usually happens at the time of puberty when girls and boys body go through a speedy change, during pregnancy or when you happen to gain or lose weight.

The lower layer of the skin which provides it strength and elasticity tend to get thinner and uneven. As the skin is very transparent the blood vessels can be easily seen. Due to which the stretch marks happen to be seen. Men suffer from stretch marks too. These stretch marks usually disappear after period of time, but that too can stretch depending upon the marks you have.
Stretch mark starts developing to pregnant women on the abdomen during the second half of the pregnancy. The skin stretches to accommodate a growing baby which develops comparatively as there are stretch marks on the skin.
Sometimes the skin color plays a part too. According to the skin color the mark may begin as a pink, reddish, brown, or dark brown color. These reddish-brown marks fade gradually with passage of time which later on looks like shining silver lines.
Due to pregnancy your skin gets stretched a lot basically near the abdomen and breasts. These are caused partially due to hormonal changes. Women who have weaker collagen tend to get more stretch marks than the others and may take even more time to heal.
Research has showed that due to the frail pelvic floor ligaments women suffer from stretch marks. This can be corrected by doing pelvic floor exercises to avoid any incontinence of urine. Bodybuilders also get stretch marks due rapid growth of their body similar to pregnant women.
