Stretch Marks Cannot be Prevented But Can be Minimized

Who gets it…

women carrying big babies

women with multiple pregnancies

women who have excess amniotic fluid

women who gain weight rapidly

fair skinned women; it appears less frequently in darker skinned women

women whose skin lack in elastin

Causes

The pregnant womans skin stretches a lot and rapidly during the pregnancy term. Some women even gain excessively, more than they should. The hormone relaxin causes collagen level in skin fibers to dive and this makes the skin more prone to developing lines. Its development cannot be stalled. Why some skins dont get these marks or dont get as many lines are largely attributed to the skin and body type. Some women are fortunate enough to be blessed with good elastic skin tone which they either inherited or earned through good diet and physical activity. You are a sure target for stretch marks if you gain excess weight rapidly and your body doesnt have enough elastin and collagen to deal with this change.

Stretch marks cannot be prevented but can be minimized.

Stretch marks are here to stay! Eventually, these marks do turn shiny, pearl white and narrower after delivery, but efforts on your part can minimize if not totally prevent it.

Control your weight: You can control how much you eat by eating right. Try and gain weight at a gradual pace since weight gain is an inevitable part of pregnancy. Stretch marks tend to increase as the pregnancy progresses. Those who are prone to them will still get them but with gradual weight gain, the skin will stretch without tearing so the number and severity of this problem is lessened. By keeping your weight gain at a healthy, steady level you will be able to minimize the gravity of this problem.

Modify your diet: A diet rich in protein and vitamin C helps to promote and maintain healthy skin. A diet packed with foods that are protein-rich certainly helps, and dont forget your fruits and veggies.

Lotions and salves: It is important to accept and remember that genetics and weight gain have a heavy role in determining whether you get stretch marks or not. Many people swear that vitamin E creams, expensive oils, salves and emollients help but many women who have used such products still got those marks. So it is really a question of you being predisposed to this problem or not. These creams at best moisten your skin and keep them well conditioned and this in turn will keep itchiness at bay. (Stretched skin feels itchy a lot of times.)

Dont lose heart

These marks appear prominent while you are pregnant but with time, after you have delivered, they tend to lighten and fade into silvery lines that are lighter than the surrounding skin. If you are still unhappy or uncomfortable with those lines, make an appointment with a dermatologist who will work on the scars through microdermabrasion or laser. Alternatively, you can resort to treatment with Isotretinoin gel (Retin-A), which you should only try after your pregnancy and if you are not breastfeeding. However, take note that this treatment is most effective when the streaks still have their dark pigments.

What are these pregnancy stretch marks? These are marks that result from extra stretching of the skin. These spots are generally associated with pregnancy, puberty, or obesity. These scars affect the production of collagen. These marks are pretty soft, in fact, even softer than normal skin. To begin with, they are either purple or red in color, later they become silver- white in color. These scars affect the dermis layer of the skin. Dermis is the deeper layer (under epidermis- the outer layer) that makes skin stay in shape. When dermis overstretches during pregnancy, the fibers present in this layer lose their elastic characteristic.

How To Handle The Stretch Marks

These spots are present in more than seventy-five percent of all pregnant women. These scars commonly occur on the lower abdomen, breasts, upper arms, buttocks, hips, thighs, and calves. The number of patches you will get depends upon the elasticity of your skin. In addition, the presence of these patches is directly proportionate to the amount of weight you put on during your pregnancy. A theory says that, if your mother suffered from marks during her pregnancy, you should prepare yourself for them.

Even though there are various methods for its treatment, there are no reliable methods for complete removal. Some of the popular treatments are lazer treatment, derma-abrasion, and application of lotion for stretch marks.

These patches do not affect a womans health, nor do they affect the baby in any way. They are not harmful or painful in any way. This is just a cosmetic issue, since they look like streaks on the skin. The best course of action is to consult a dermatologist. They are the best people to offer you advice. They will also let you choose your treatment option. Sometimes, some medications also cause stretch marks, so it is important to keep your doctor in the know of things.

Even though there are various home remedies for these scars, surgery seems to be the best method to completely get rid of them. The lotions and creams only help them fade a little. With the new developments in the field of surgery, people swear by the benefits of lazer surgery, as it focuses on the underlying tissues of the skin, where the damage has actually occurred. Derma-abrasion also has gained in popularity over the years. However, the success of the procedure varies from individual to individual. It depends upon many variants, such as age, diet, general skin health etc.

Over- the- counter creams are popular with those, who do not want to go under the surgeons scalpel. Many common sense measures like drinking plenty of water and eating skin friendly food like fish, nuts, eggs etc, go a long way in preventing pregnancy stretch marks. These foods contain the mineral zinc and proteins that are very beneficial for healthy skin.

Winning over Botox

The results that Strivectin is capable of producing have often been compared to Botox. Because it is less invasive and more affordable, Strivectin has surpassed Botox as a favored anti-aging product among both men and women. How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks – Part 6

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are a normal part of puberty for most girls and guys. When a person grows or gains weight really quickly (like during puberty), that person may get fine lines on the body called stretch marks. Stretch marks occur in the dermis, the elastic middle layer of skin that allows it to retain its shape. However, when constantly stretched, the dermis can break down leaving behind stretch marks. It starts with natural ingredients that keep the skin ultra moist and elastic.

Men and women can get stretch marks on several areas of their bodies, including the abdominal area, thighs, hips, breasts, upper arms, or lower back. Stretch marks look like thin, stretched tissue, and that is more or less what they are. They appear in people who put on or lose weight rapidly. The upper layer of the skin is normal, but in the lower layer the collagen and elastic, which give the skin its strength and elasticity, have become thinner and broken. Stretch marks appear on the body in many different places for a variety of reasons. Stretch marks occur when the dermis, the middle layer of your skin, is stretched to a point where its elasticity begins to break down. At this point, microscopic bleeding occurs along with tissue inflammation which gives us the raised reddish purple look of newly formed stretch marks.

How to get Rid of Stretch Marks

Surgery is a possibility for tummy stretch marks if you also have a lot of loose skin on the tummy. The operation is a tummy tuck (removal of the skin and the fatty tissue beneath). You will be left with scars around the belly button and across the lower stomach. This is not a minor operation and, like all operations, it carries risks. Recovery takes several weeks.

Lotions and Creams-Drink plenty of water. Adequate hydration keeps your skin soft and less likely to develop stretch marks. Caffeine can increase your risk of stretch marks. If you’re stuck on your caffeinated coffee or tea, make sure you balance the fluids. Drink just as muchor morewater as you drink coffee, tea, or soda. Stretch marks can also result from nutritional deficiency. Be sure to consume foods that promote skin health: foods rich in zinc, such as nuts or fish; foods high in vitamins A and C.

Cocoa Butter-Remember that no lotion or cream can prevent or erase stretch marks because they form in layers of skin too deep for any moisturizer to reach. If your pregnant belly is tight and itchy, you can keep it more comfortable by applying a rich moisturizer frequently. Cocoa butter is widely recommended. Shea butter and jojoba oil aren’t as easy to find, but these also have many properties that can ease dry skin.

Laser Surgery- If you find your stretch marks very upsetting, a dermatologist may be able to help. *Microdermabrasion and lazer surgery are surgical options. If your appearance matters so much to you that you are seriously considering those options, a counselor might also be able to help.

Tretinoin cream – also called Retin-A. Studies have shown that this may help reduce stretch marks. Do not use this if you are breastfeeding, as there have been no studies conducted to determine whether its excreted in breast milk and what affect it can have on your baby.

There are many things to consider before you buy any stretch mark removal product. It is vital to gain an firm understanding on how these unsightly stripes which appear on your skin happen in the first place.

Don’t assume that only pregnant women can have stretch marks. These marks affect teenagers as well especially when they go through puberty. Stretch marks can be seen on people who put on or lose a lot of weight in a short period of time. These marks are commonly found at stomach, hip, buttocks, thighs, arms, and breast.

When women are expecting a child, the breasts and the abdomens are the most affected area. This is due to the imbalance of the hormones in women’s bodies. These changes weaken the skin’s structure in the pelvis to ease the birth of the child when the time comes. When the structural elements such as collagen becomes weak, then you will see the formation of stretch marks.

Stretch marks or striae gravidarum become apparent when the skin cannot handle too much pulling and stretching. The skin can only stretch or pull so much. Usually, you can stretch your skin within reasonable limits without causing any tear because the skin is fairly elastic. But if you stretch your skin beyond a certain limit, the body may not produce enough collagen to prevent tearing and this will cause the unwelcomed lines to develop.

Usually the color of the stretch marks is reddish or purplish when they first begin to develop. The lines may appear to be indented. The texture of the marks is not the same as the ones surrounding the marks. The stretched area is more transparent. You can see small blood vessels in the affected skin.

After awhile, the blood vessels shrink and the purplish color then gradually change to white. The white color shows that the fat under the skin is becoming transparent. Luckily, the colors of these ugly stripes often become lighter and almost vanish as time passes by.

In most cases, light skinned women tend to have pinkish stretch marks. But dark skinned women such as African American usually have stretch marks that are lighter and more clearer than the adjacent skin.

Body-builders are not spared from stretch marks because their skin experience rapid changes from the activity of by body-building repeated sets. Stretch marks also may develop if you apply steroid-containing skin creams or ointments for more than a few weeks, or consume high doses of oral corticosteroids for long periods.

A good stretch mark removal cream should help in transferring the skin enhancing ingredient to the dermal layer. This is to promote more collagen and elastin to be produced. By replacing new collagen and elastin, the resiliency of the firmness of the skin can be renewed. This will help to prevent future stretch marks.

Stretch mark removal creams should come with potent antioxidant substances that can slow down the degeneration of the skin’s support network. If the manufacturer add moisturizing oils such as palm, coconut, and olive oils that are rich with nutrients, your skin can be more elastic. This allows you to stretch your skin without leaving any marks behind. Not only should the cream work during pregnancy but also after pregnancy. This is beneficial when the skin returns to its usual shape. By improving the elasticity, you can prevent the skin from sagging significantly and developing ugly lines.

Stretch marks are irregular, linear scars that appear on your skin during pregnancy or quick weight gain times. Their scientific name is striae distensae, and they are really scar tissue.
Stretch marks happen due to exaggerated stretching of the epidermis (the external layer of the skin) and the dermis, which is the layer of skin beneath that consists of connective tissue, blood vessels and collagen.
As the skin is stretched, the normal production of collagen is altered and stretch marks appear. In theory, they can appear anywhere on the body, but the main areas afflicted are places where the body fluctuates in size.

Pregnancy stretch marks use to appear on the breasts, stomach, hips, thighs and buttocks.
But if you believe it’s only pregnancy, and being female, that puts you at risk of stretch marks, you’re wrong. Body fat has a part to play in the formation of stretch marks, so they can affect anyone who gains weight rapidly. Bodybuilders can also develop stretch marks, and young men can suffer them around the shoulder skin if they have a bit of a growth spurt or have a bit of excess weight on their backs.
One thing many women ask is, are stretch marks hereditary?
Some connective tissue conditions make some persons prone to stretch marks, but they only affect a very small group of the population.
As far as developing stretch marks as a result of pregnancy goes, if your mother suffered them it doesn’t necessarily mean you will. It is largely down to how much weight you gain during the pregnancy. Also, having kids close together doesn’t elevate the chances.
Stretch marks commonly begin as reddish lines on the skin, which implies the stretch mark, or scar, is inflamed. If you do nothing to it, eventually the inflammatory element disappear and the mark changes in color to silver or white.
The bad thing is that stretch marks never really disappear. But there are several remedies for stretch marks you can try to improve their look.
One is a vascular laser, which is virtually painless and can improve the color and texture of the scars in some patients.
Skin care treatments include a variety of over-the-counter creams and oils, many of which can be applied to the skin in areas at risk during and after pregnancy, and prescription creams containing retinoids and vitamin A can also be applied post-pregnancy.
Diet can help avoid stretch marks too. Eating a balanced, healthy diet can really help. You won’t have a big increase in your weight during pregnancy, and an extra is that you won’t have a lot of weight to lose afterwards.

Get Stretch Marks Off your Skin Using Moisturizers and Fruit Acids

Under normal circumstances, skin can be considered as one of the most elastic organs of the body. You can turn your head, flex your muscles, or do a split; yet you never have to worry about your skin tearing up or never getting back to its original shape. But believe it or not, there are instances where the skin can be overstretched; there are actually two factors that can really affect your skin’s elasticity, namely: pregnancy and rapid weight gain.

If you are having a baby or experiencing tremendous physical growth, there is a big tendency for your skin to develop fine lines which are commonly called stretch marks. These are actually scars which indicate that certain skin tissues have been torn apart due to abrupt growth or stretching of the skin. Being over-weight or pregnant extends your skin so much so that your dermal tissues have to produce too much of the fibrous protein called collagen. In essence, your stretch marks are the result of a disintegration of skin tissues in the affected areas.

Stretch marks usually appear in areas like thighs, arms, shoulders, stomach area, buttocks and breasts. They appear as lines with a pinkish, brownish, or purplish color when they are new; and in time, they can lose most of their pigmentation and appear as white or silvery streaks. It is important to note that stretch marks do not pose any harmful effects to your health; your main concern with these scars is your self-esteem and sense of beauty.

Generally speaking, stretch marks can be prevented; but it takes a big amount of dedication to do that. Massaging the areas which you think are prone to the development of stretch marks can greatly improve the blood circulation in those places; increased blood circulation on your skin gets rid of toxins and other bad elements that reduce your skin’s elasticity. Eating foods that are considered as allies of your skin can also help in stopping the appearance of stretch marks; these include food items that are abundant in zinc, vitamin E, and silica among others.

However, if stretch marks did develop on your skin, then you must follow a more comprehensive plan to fight off the unsightly scars. Currently there are two important elements which can help you in defeating stretch marks. If you want to know what these are, read on and pay attention.

Moisturizers And Creams

Sure, you have heard all about the countless moisturizers and creams out there. But before you think that the cosmetic industry is out to pull a fast one on you, first consider the facts. Contrary to popular belief, most skin moisturizers and creams sold in the market contain essential substances that can help rejuvenate and improve your skin.

Take the case of beneficial Vitamin A. You can find this substance in carrots, but if you do not want to eat carrots by the basket and make a rabbit of yourself, you can use moisturizers and creams with the highly-concentrated and acid form of Vitamin A which is called tretinoin. This substance binds itself deep into the skin cells and allows the skin to exfoliate and create new and healthier layers. Tretinoin is found on most moisturizers and creams and is best used if the stretch marks on your skin are just starting to develop.

Fruit Acids

Not all acids can be harmful to your skin. Acids that have been extracted or developed from fruits, aptly called alpha hydroxyl acids, can help eliminate stretch marks in two ways. First, fruit acids help your skin become more flexible. And second, fruit acids give your skin the chance to rapidly produce new cells and layers by acting as astringent against old scarred layers of skin. Using fruit-based acids, you will observe that your old unhealthy skin, including stretch marks, will be shed off in a few weeks.

Apart from ordinary fruit acids, moisturizers or creams, you can also try products like Strevaxl which are specifically designed to fight off stretch marks. For more details about eliminating unsightly stretch marks, visit http://Strevaxl.com/.

19004951 9f98680301 m The Benefits Of Microdermabrasion For Stretch Marks

Microdermabrasion is a technique that is proven to be effective in reducing stretch marks, s well as the skin’s fine lines, or what is commonly known as the crow’s feet. It also reduces age spots and acne scars. Microdermabrasion is a skin renewal process that accelerates collagen and skin cells production.

The microdermabrasion method involves the use of a pen-like device, which has the ability to emit helpful crystals to the skin’s surface. What happens at that point is a tender abrasion course of action that entails the polishing off of all the skin’s impurities, and in this case, the stretch marks.

One session of microdermabrasion usually lasts for 30 minutes or so. Patient has to undergo a total of 12 sessions for maximum results, with every session two to three weeks apart. Maintenance procedures also have to be undergone as well.

Microdermabrasion is a highly successful procedure with several benefits to boost. To list some of its benefits here they are:

1. Microdermabrasion has no side effects. The procedure’s side effect is next to nil. There will be no peeling, no scarring, or even redness on the skin that will be noticeable. This is the safest way to achieve a stretch mark-free skin in no time.

2. The process is very effective. Microdermabrasion gives the skin a healthy-looking glow. You will feel fresh right after each session. After continuous treatment, your stretch marks will be gone as if was never there. But it is also true that the extensive cases of stretch marks may require several sessions, as well as a lot of maintenance handling.

3. Microdermabrasion does not involve the use of surgery. If you wanted to get rid of your stretch marks minus a worrisome surgical procedure, microdermabrasion is the one for you. The procedure is not only very safe and effective, it can also be carried out during your lunch break.

4. Microdermabrasion is applicable on any skin color and any skin type. Unlike some methods, like laser, that do not work on certain skin types, microdermabrasion is different. It can accommodate your skin, regardless of its color, texture, or the stretch mark’s complexity. But as in all procedures, patients with a good and fair skin tones have a higher probability of producing the best results.

5. The procedure does not require the use any chemicals. This will benefit most those people who easily get irritated from certain chemical compounds that come in contact with their skin. Microdermabrasion is conducted with a hand-held device and it does not require any other elements. For maximum results, a personalized skincare program is advised, so that doctors can focus on the areas that needed more attention in relevance to your skin tone and skin type.

6. Microdermabrasion follows a very simple formulation. The whole process is noninvasive; so all your normal activities can be carried on as usual. It does not even require the body to be subjected to any form of medication.

Stretch marks can now be treated minus the hassle. You need not have to worry anymore about how you can get rid of those unsightly marks around your stomach or some other parts of the body.

Microdermabrasion could be the solution to your problem. Go ask your doctor how you can personally experience the procedure’s optimum results. Then you can say goodbye to the stretch marks that seems to be in your body for the longest time already.

Try eating a lot of sugar free jello. The sugar free stuff has no calories, but it does have collagen in it, which will help your skin to tighten up. That is the theory anyway.
