Stretch marks has often been a reason to be self-conscious. It is natural to have them but to have those kinds that are so dark, they really look dirty is another thing.

Laser surgery in removing stretch marks is so pricey. Why pay hundreds when you can remove those pregnancy scars/working out scars yourself?

Often times, stretch marks appear on parts where fat is stored. These are the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, upper arms, under arms and breasts. Women who had just given birth have theirs as reddish marks which become light purple later on. These can also be obtained through physical activities such as working out. Also, if your weight balloons up and down on the weighing scale, your skin is often stretched and the collagen normally produced is disrupted, resulting to discoloration.

Realistically, stretch marks cannot be removed instantly. According to doctors, these are already scars. What you can do is to make them less noticeable by lightening the dark spots.

The most common home remedy in removing stretch marks quickly is cocoa butter. This has been tried and tested by mothers who had recently given birth. It is also possible that the massaging action of applying the cocoa butter attributes to the less noticeable stretch mark.

Another solution you can try is to exfoliate. Choose a product that will work best for you. After exfoliating, use a good lotion on the scars. Some have even tried squeezing a Vitamin E capsule open and applying the liquid to the area with the stretch marks. According to them, it worked.

You can also use olive oils and coconut butter. Thoroughly massage these topical ointments on the area where the stretch marks are located. Do this religiously and regularly. Sooner or later, you will see results.

If you prefer those you can buy in the drug store, there are a number of products you can use. An example is the Palmers Stretch Marks Cream. It is herbal based and is quite safe and effective in removing those unwanted stretch marks on your thighs, buttocks, stomach and breasts. It also restores your skin to its original texture.

Stick to one solution. Do not go from one home remedy to the next as to this might have additional side effects. Make up your mind which remedy you would like to try and stick to it for at least 6 to 12 weeks. If there are no improvements, then you can try another one.

Prevention is better than cure and the most effective way for you to not get stretch marks is to exercise. By doing so, your muscles and your skin remain firm. You can also eat foods that are rich in proteins, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Drink lots of water because they can also help your skin to be healthier.

Stretch marks are not hazardous to ones health though. Having them does not mean that the person will not be able to function properly. It is normal for everybody to be concerned on how they look and although these stretch marks are located in areas that are not usually seen, the fact that you still have them can lessen your confidence.

We all have a right to feel good about ourselves and if lessening the possibility of having our stretch marks noticed, then so be it. If it also means removing our stretch marks fast, then go for it.

Breast Stretch Marks – What Are the Cures?

Having stretch marks is considered a nightmare by many women. The obsession with physical beauty has made women want to look perfect in every part of their body. Certainly, having breast stretch marks can ruin that unforgiving concept of beauty. The good news is that stretch marks can be somehow avoided and, if you have the money, can be cured.

Dermatology has defined stretch marks, also called as striae, as a form of scarring on the skin caused by the tearing of the dermis, which is the middle layer helping the skin retain its original shape. Stretch marks develop when there is rapid stretching of the skin, which happens during immediate growth in early puberty or in the last stages of pregnancy. When the rapid stretching of the skin overpowers the elasticity of the dermis, causing streaks in a silvery white due to appear on the affected areas, which may be the thighs, buttocks, hips, belly, arms, and/or breasts. This means that, as long as the dermis is supported, no breast stretch marks will occur.

Thus, perhaps the best way to fight breast stretch marks is to avoid getting them. You must ensure the dermis in your chest area remains supported especially when you are experiencing weight gain due to pregnancy or some other cause. To help you do this, use an effective moisturizer, lotion or oil and massage your breasts regularly to help improve blood circulation and the elasticity of your skin. Studies have shown that regular application of Trofolastin or Verum can prevent the development of several depressed skin streaks or stretch marks. Trofolastin is a cream that contains collagen-elastin hydrolysates, vitamin E, and extracts of Centella asiatica, while Verum is yet another creams that contains elastin, hyaluronic acid, menthol, panthenol, and vitamin E. Together, these ingredients provide the supportive material that prevents epidermal and dermal tearing.

There is an ingredient found in creams, ointments, lotions, and other topical medications that claim to lighten stretch marks which you should avoid if you are pregnant or breastfeeding: Retin-A. There have been studies that associated Retin-A with risks in pregnancies. Although there is no proof that Retin-A has adverse effects on mothers who breastfeed and their babies, doctors have advised against using stretch marks solutions containing this substance. Cocoa butter, on the other hand, is one ingredient that enjoys popularity and is highly recommended.

Stretch marks first appear in a color that’s far from your skin color. They are usually born in purple, brown, or reddish color but will soon fade into gray. While stretch marks will totally disappear, breast stretch marks can be cured to lighten fast and blend with the color of your skin so that they will become less noticeable to the unknowing eye.

Some women resort to cosmetic surgery to remove their breast stretch marks. Lazer treatments and dermabrasion are some of the technological cures for stretch marks, not only in the breast area but in other areas in the body that have stretch marks.

Who Can Have Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks are a common condition that plagues almost all women who have gone through pregnancy. In fact, statistics show that around 50 up to 90 percent of pregnant women have had it at one point in their pregnancy.

Other people may also get marks in fact, everybody is at risk for developing it. Non-pregnant women, men, children, teens going through rapid growth , weight lifters, or anyone else who experiences any form of rapid growth or extreme changes in weight may get stretch marks.

Almost all stretch marks develop on a womans abdomen starting on her sixth month of pregnancy onwards. This is when her belly is stretching in order to accommodate the growing baby inside. Thus, the skin of her belly is pushed to the limits of its elasticity.

Other women also get stretch marks on their upper arms, breasts, lower back, hips, buttocks, and thighs. These unsightly marks are usually found around the areas of the body that store the most amount of fat.

How Do Stretch Marks Arise?

When the layers of skin and the tissue beneath them are pulled and get stretched beyond their maximum capacity for expansion, the collagen structure located deep within them start to break apart. The skin actually tears so microscopic bleeding occurs.

When these tiny wounds heal, scar tissue is formed. This scar is what we commonly call stretch marks. It generally appears as thin lines that may be pink, purple, red or dark brown in color. They vary in length from as tiny as a centimetre or up to 10 centimetres.

Stretch marks are most noticeable during their early stages of formation, but as time goes by they will slowly fade away in color and turn into a few shades lighter than the surrounding skin tone.

Stretch Marks Risk Factors

There are different factors that can increase your chances of developing stretch marks. Genetics is among these factors. Your family history can give you a clue whether or not youll get marks. For instance, if your sister or mother got them during their pregnancy, youll be likely to have them yourself. Aside from genetic predisposition, other risk factors for stretch marks include the following:

- Skin color fair skin tone tend to get stretch marks more.

- Overall skin health dry skin is generally less elastic than firm and supple skin.

- Proportion of weight gain this also includes how rapidly you gained weight.

- Pregnancy concerns this includes whether you are having a big baby, or have twins or triplets and whether you are naturally small or if you have excessive amounts weight gain.

Stretch marks in pregnancy are red or blue lines that can usually appear on the abdomen, breasts, arms, legs, and buttocks. As the pregnancy develops and weight is gained, the skin is stretched beyond it’s usual elasticity. The production of collagen is affected, a protein that gives the skin it’s elasticity, and leaves the body more prone to developing stretch marks.

After pregnancy, the skin goes back to it’s original shape, stretch marks change their color and become white, smooth, shiny and flattened scars.

Although some women wear their stretch marks with pride, as a reminder of their pregnancies, most want to take what action they can to minimize the scars they leave after pregnancy and get their shape and looks back as soon as they can.

Unsightly pink or white stretch marks abound in body areas such as the abdomen, breasts, legs, and buttocks of pregnant women and people who have slimmed down or gained weight drastically. What are the causes of stretch marks, you may ask? Various factors contribute to the appearance of stretch marks:

1.Pregnancy or sudden loss or gain of weight

2.Natural growth because of adolescence

3.Depression

4.Nutrition deficiency

5.Sudden change in environmental or physical conditions

After learning the root cause of why these annoying lines suddenly have shows up, you might be contemplating on how to get rid or at least prevent them, right?

Ever considered surgery? You think it’s too bloody or painful, for you? How about drinking medications that are supposed to combat the appearance of stretch marks? How about VITAMINS? Do you know what vitamins are known to avoid the ugly stretch marks from lining one’s skin? Here are three of the most popular anti-stretch mark vitamins:

Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

Vitamin E is an antioxidant which is believed to encourage skin healing and scar reduction.

People with post-operation stretch marks attest to the fact that Vitamin E oil capsules can help in making their stretch marks fade away. Vitamin E is also a common key ingredient to lotion and creams that are said to fight stretch marks. Its anti-inflammatory effect is theoretically known to attribute to its effect in working against aggravation of stretch marks.

If you prefer eating natural source of Vitamin E, foods that have it include:

Sunflower seeds

Nuts

Seabuckthorn berries

Whole grains

Green leafy vegetables

Peanut butter

Fish

Vitamin A (Retinol)

Vitamin is known for its effect on the growth of teeth and bones, correct functioning of epithelial cells, night vision, and reproduction. Vitamin A is also regarded as one of the best vitamins guarding the skin.

The derivatives of this vitamin are known as anti-aging substances that are easily absorbed thru the skin. This elevates the turnover of the skin and temporarily boosts collagen production, which in turn produces a youthful appearance for the skin.

Natural sources of vitamin A include spinach, carrots, kale, sweet potatoes, apricots, mango, liver, broccoli, eggs, sweet pepper, winter squash etc.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

Vitamin C is another antioxidant that aids in collagen production in connective tissues. It is also important in the synthesis of hormones and theoretically helps in going against cancer and in skin health and repair.

Its natural sources include papaya, lemon, melon, raspberry, cauliflower, strawberry, grapefruit, orange, passion fruit, cabbage, cucumber, mother’s and cow’s milk, goats, etc.

Vitamins A, C, and E are believed to be the best vitamins to fight stretch marks’ appearance. However, they can’t get rid or prevent stretch marks all by themselves. They are only supplements that help in making such endeavor possible. A sensible diet, regular exercise and avoiding losing and gaining weight drastically is still required to fully wage war against those unsightly skin problems known as stretch marks.

They are often included as ingredients in lotions, creams and oils to augment one’s regular skin maintenance. This is because according to studies, vitamins can’t easily penetrate the deeper parts of the skin to repair stretch marks. Vehicles like other plant and animal oils are believed to help in making that goal possible.

Get Rid Of Stretch Marks – Your Options

Stretch marks are one of women’s biggest concerns when it comes to changes in appearance. They arise from a number of reasons, including, but not limited to heredity, obesity, pregnancy, and sudden growth spurts.

Stretch marks appear in various parts of the body, the most common of which are the upper thighs, the waist, the buttocks, under the arms, the chest, and the stomach.

Regardless of the cause, however, probably the most important question to you is still, “How do I get rid of stretch marks?” There are many ways to improve the appearance of stretch marks, but once you already have them, it could be quite difficult to fully get rid of them unless you undergo lazer surgery.

Before you contemplate splurging your hard-earned cash on the latest, most expensive creams or the newest advances in surgical procedures, there are some easy and helpful ways you can do in the comfort of your own home to treat stretch marks.

If your stretch marks are not too faded or are relatively new, try using a loofah or body brush while bathing or showering and gently scrub the affected areas. Doing so would loosen and remove the dead skin cells on the surface of the stretch marks, leaving the new skin in your natural color beneath it.

There are also countless oils and creams available over the counter which you could try. In some cases, these could help reduce the severity of your stretch marks. Remember though, that if you are expecting, it would be wise to ask your physician prior to starting the use of any oils and creams to get rid of stretch marks.

You may also opt to see your dermatologist to get an appropriate prescription cream such as Retin-A. A significant decrease in the size of stretch marks has been observed in patients who have participated in Retin-A studies.

However, Retin-A should not be used to get rid of stretch marks by pregnant or lactating women, as there have not been a sufficient number of studies done to prove it could not adversely affect an unborn child.

Laser surgery is by far the most definitive and permanent means of to get rid of stretch marks. Keep in mind that the type of lazer to be used would largely depend on the coloration of your stretch marks.

A recent discovery also involves a surgical lazer treatment which can render the stretch marks, as well as your skin, more pliable. It’s comforting to know that these new lazer surgeries are almost, if not totally, painless. However, it is unfortunate that most insurance companies do not cover such surgeries as they are classified as of the cosmetic type that is, surgery which is not necessarily essential to the survival and good health of a person. For more info see http://www.ridstretchmarks.com/Articles/Prevent_Stretch_Marks.php on Prevent Stretch Marks.

This means that you must be ready to devote a substantial portion of your budget to this type of surgery. However, if you’re quite sure that it will extremely boost your confidence, then it could actually be money well spent.
